Senior Project Manager for a Top Tier 2 Building Contractor in NSW, the Senior Project Manager must have worked on any of the following Data Centre / Health / Industrial sectors on projects of at least $50M!

The Opportunity
  • This opportunity exists due to a strong pipeline of work in the Sydney region and after recently winning several contracts.
  • The opportunity would see you join an established and experienced team in Sydney and take on projects from $50M - $150M in value.
  • It would see you take the project from tender stage through to delivery whilst also supporting and mentoring Junior Project and Site staff.
  • The builder has been established for the past 20 + years. They design, construct, and deliver across various diverse projects (educational, commercial, retail, industrial, aged care, and government).

Key Requirements:
  • Ideally you will have completed a Bachelor of Construction Management or similar related degree or a trade qualification
  • You will have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the building industry having worked for Tier 2 Contractor.
  • You will be required to have demonstrated experience delivering and leading new build projects $70M + in Australia. Must have experience on Data Centres / Hospitals or Industrial at large scale
  • You will be very strong on taking the project from tender stage to completion and lead the project team 
  • High level Design Management, Stakeholder/ Client Management and Contractor Management experience
  • You will have a strong commercial acumen, in-depth knowledge of programming, cost reporting and budget control
  • Displayed experience in building client relationships 
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to mention and supervise Junior PM’s / CA’s / Site Managers / Foreman
  • You will have a diverse range of project experience
  • Strong understanding of building codes in Australia / Strong subcontractor relationships
  • Great tenure with reputable head contractor is a must

Hawksworth are sourcing a Senior Project Manager (Working from home) for a Financial Services client in Sydney.

This is such an exciting role, you’ll be coordinating and managing the entire move back into the office for next year. Not sure how many days a week it will be next year back in the office, but the plan is to get things moving and start planning.

This is an initial 6 months contract wth a view to extend.

You will be the go-to PM across IT, Hardware, Business, Property, Workplace, Health & Safety, etc. This is bigger than office relocations, DC moves, this is new territory, and an amazing opportunity to set-out how this is done for others to follow ��

The successful candidate (You) will be able to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into the work, this is a hands-on position.

Experience:
  • 5+ years in Project Management
  • Good understanding across IT, Hardware, Business, Property, Workplace, Health & Safety, etc.
  • Delivery focussed
  • Excellent stakeholder / Vendor Management
  • People-person, who's a good team player
This is a new role and one that will be very different from your previous roles, as we have not had to contend with Covid before. It is essential that you have experience across Risk and Governance and Health & Safety, which is vital knowldge when setting up best practice and the best possible environment for employees to eventually return to work in 2021.

Skills and experience

Key Responsibilities 

  • Ensure effective adherence to definiti's processes in line with best in class project delivery methodologies.
  • Direct and manage project delivery engagements from the project initiation to the completion of the projects.
  • Define and control project costs, scope, goals and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the client is prepared to recommend definiti to other clients.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications activities.
  • Effectively communicate and manage expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project and service engagement stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations

Essential Experience

  • Certification and experience with a recognised project management methodology (e.g.Agile, PMBoK, Prince2, ITIL).
  • Experience in managing client-facing software development and consulting projects.
  • A commitment to stakeholder's success, quality and customer service.
  • Proven experience in the successful management of clients.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing best practices and tools for the execution and management of software projects.

About the role:

The purpose of the position is to successfully manage the delivery of predominantly medium to high risk/complexity projects to plan, within the Regional Annual Integrated Works Program. The Program includes capital works, maintenance and facilities management services, tactical renewal and minor works projects.

The position leads collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams in and the Regional to manage and resolve complex issues and risks to project delivery. The position is accountable to drive collaboration between Sydney and the Regional Delivery Consortium, to manage risk proactively and to ensure integrated whole-life delivery.

The position is accountable to ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency in project delivery, cost and risk management across all assigned projects within and across asset classes. The position contributes to the development of the Annual Integrated Works Program, and continuously challenges and identifies ways to improve the delivery of projects.

  • Maintenance Services.
  • Facilities Management Services
  • Tactical Renewals
  • Minor works (<$5m)
  • Professional Services
  • Design and Construction Works ($5-10m+ in project value)
  • Oversee medium risk/complexity projects managed by Project Management

Ideal candidate will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant or related field or experience deemed equivalent
  • Proven project management experience, delivering large and multi-faceted projects, is essential
  • Proven leadership/ senior management experience
  • Experience working with key business stakeholders
  • At least 3-4 years in a Senior Position
  • Minimum 10+ years industry experience, including in:
  • Working within and leading large, multi-disciplinary integrated teams and/or alliances
  • Design and construction project delivery within the infrastructure/utilities sectors
  • NEC contract management and administration
  • Managing complex stakeholders
  • Leading positive business change
  • Program management and/or regional delivery of multiple investment programs
  • Delivery via a range of contracting models
